MG TD TF 1500 - towing a camping trailer
Somebody here who tow a Camping Trailer with the MG-TD? My Point is how to attach a Hitch Mount to the car? My trailer has a max. weight of 400kg and should be fit easily to the TD. Any advice, Picture, drawing would be helpful. Thank you Guenter ![]() |

What engine do you have? Not mine! It can barely tow me! |

I've wondered the same thing, Guenter; somebody must have hooked up a little trailer. I look forward to any pictures anybody finds! |

LOts of us in our club have trailer hitches on our TD's. I will try and get a photo of mine tomorrow and post it then. |

This is one of my favorite photos of yours Matt. It is the inspiration for me to build a tear drop trailer with matching knock off wires and rear TF fenders. It's not a top priority, so it is still in my imagination, but one day... Alex |

OK, thank you all or your help. Just some more information’s concerning the camper. The Dethleffs Camper was popular around 1960. At that time the cars used was typical very small in Europe: - Goggomobil (19Hp) - VW Beatle (34 Hp) - Karmann Ghia (34Hp) - Fiat Cinquecento 500 (13,5Hp) - Mini Cooper (33Hp) - CITROEN 2Cv (16Hp) - Renault CV4 (20Hp) - Morris Minor(27Hp) Exactly this was the market for a small Camper. The empty weight was 200kg and the max. Weight was 400kg. No Brake system was necessary, which made the trailer much simpler. If somebody is interested on this small foldable Camper, give me a mail, I will provide a link to the original leaflet from 1963. Cheers, Guenter ![]() |

Hallo Günther, Lothar Zissel, living in Kreuztal-Krombach, owned a TC with a TÜV authorised tow bar. Enter "Lothar Zissel" in Google Bilder and You can see pictures of his Trailer combination. Klaus |

Günther, Please PLEASE, be sure you install an oil cooler. Not worth the risk. If you're in doubt, the adapter made by Bob Grunau, has fittings for an oil cooler. If you need his coordinates, let me know. Gord Clark Rockburn, Qué |

Just happened to see this on my way to lunch. Appears to be "home built" but they want about $1,000 for it. Didn't stop to see what's inside. Jud ![]() |

I love this idea and have put it on my list of projects for sometime in the future... it may be a while, though :) |

Günther, I had adapted an oil cooler. It had a moderate effect, maybe 5 degrees C. Since I replaced my 2 core radiator with a 4 core I have removed the oil cooler. The 4 core has a substantial effect, about 15-20 degrees C. My situation was different from yours and if you decide on an oil cooler let me know via e-mail and I will give you some details. Mort |

Thank you Mort for your comment for the details and for your support you offer. Gord suggested to install an oil cooler but I'm not so sure that this is really needed. I never had a cooling problem over here in Europe, Germany is a Cool country ļ. It was complete different in North Carolina where I live 5 Years ago. Anyway, I believe that the MGA Fan I have installed and may be a modified Water pump with a 6 vane Impeller should do the job. Thank you Guenter |
