MG TD TF 1500 - True surviver
Hi All I have a two queries after seeing the thread above.I am the process of complete restoring and painting my 54TF and have three holes in a triangular pattern on the lower passenger side of the scuttle around knee height. I assume these may have been for the LHD dip s/w Bracket. I have tried my original RHD bracket but the original holes do not line up. Any Ideas? Also there has been reference to the D W that is on the wiper motor cover plate. I have discovered that my wiper mech box with the switch also has the same DW on it (photo )I wonder if this was the initials of the car builder on the production line. This is one of the best sites I have come across for originality and are trying to follow all the visual pix as possible with whats available. Look forward to comments Ps I will try to post an image of the wiper mech as I seem to have problem in accessing the file I want. |

Mr. Robson, I believe the letters DW on the motor was discussed before and should be in the archives. I don't remember the outcome, sorry. My LH drive TF has the dip switch mounted where you mentioned on the left. PJ |

BA, Rod Brayshaw is also in NZ. I doubt there are many with more knowledge on questions of originality in your part of the world. Can you post a pic showing the three holes as I believe I've also seen these on TD's. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

Bud, I would think that car has a slight wood issue! Good ventilation. LOL. And yes, my mounting for the dip switch is the same. PJ |

I have the DW stencil on my wiper box under the scuttle. I don't think we've figured out the meaning to these letters DW. The three holes are for the light dipper as mentioned in the previous posts. |

Paul, that's one of the originality images that I took when I began work on 'the53'. Bud |

Hi Guys Hey thanks all my suspicion was right that these holes are for LHD dip switch bracket as per your image Bud, I will blank them with R/bungs. Paul/Frank I mention the D W on the wiper mech because it did not only appear on the w/motor and in the True Surviver MG site some discussion took place but the outcome was elusive. The fact that it appears on two Lucas items makes one wonder if they are initials of the person at Lucas,s quality control. My thoughts only. Best of British. Thanks Blair R |
