MG TD TF 1500 - Tub to frame mounts
I know several of you have done frame off restorations on TF's. I am now working on a 55 TF and noticed that on the six main tub to frame mounts there are no pads between the tub angle iron and the frame. When I did a 53 TD many years ago I was the first one to take the tub off the frame and as I remember there were small pads at each connection. My question is, should there be pads at this connection and if so does anyone know of a source for them. Thanks for any help in advance. |

Mr. Driver, I have attached a picture of my TF 1500 that I am currently resurrecting. My car has had minimal work done to it over the years and it appears the tub has never be touched. At each pad I observed there are what appear to be rather thin pieces of cork. Hopes this helps. I will attach a second picture shortly Dan ![]() |

Thanks Dan, What you have is what I remember on the TD. So probably need to find something like 3/16 thick leather or ?. |

Suggest archive search. many materials used. Different thickness pads/shims may be needed in various locations to correct door fit in opening, etc. George |
