MG TD TF 1500 - Upholstry Staple Size
Just ordered an Air Locker long nose stapler and need to know what size staples to use on the panels. Should I use stainless staples or it makes no difference? The length is my main concern. PJ |

Also, this is one of the old door panels with no hidem, is that how their supposed to be, if so how are the new ones attached? PJ |

Sorry, the door panel.![]() |

I believe Dave B's great site shows that in detail as I remember. Hope you ordered the staple puller as well:) |

Can't find what I need on Daves site. Staple length in hidem for door panels. Thanks anyway. PJ |

Paul, I think staple size is dependent on what the staple is going into. I used 7/16 for my header bar. I would use shorter staples when working with thinner backing materials, and increase size with thicker wood etc. As I haven't worked on anything but the convertible top yet, I can't give a specific size. But I can't imagine needing longer than half inch, ever. Hope this helps... |

Paul, as I remember I asked the folks who I ordered the gun from what size to use on hiddem strip. They knew exactly what I was talking about. I ordered 3 sizes because they were reasonably priced. I'm not where I could go check this month or I would go find them. I've got millions of them! I just tried samples on some scrap till I felt it was right. As far as Dave's site I was referring to the picture you posted above of the door panel, not the staple size. I just looked at his "Interior Installation" pages and found many that answer your questions. Yes, it gets hiddem. The Horst book goes into great detail as well as I remember. Ed |
