Ditto the front right hand bonnet(hood) fit to the radiator shell !

However,I do like the correct 'smooth (non saw toothed) flow line' of the edges of the front wing to running board to the toe of the rear wing. Also the scuttle lower edge aligned with the edge of the side engine panel plus the lower (under the wing) edge of the front quarter panel lined up with the folded edge of the side engine panel, all mighty good. Many T type tub rebuilders often get that wrong.

Are TF's going DOWN in value? Seems like a very low price for a decent TF.

Probably RHD lowers the asking in the US.

The fact that it's an auction with 6 days to go may have something to do with the price as shown right now.

Tom,

I often look at the TF UK prices for guidance ! Some of the better cars are around 32,000 to 35,000 POUNDS. The really well detailed (rare), true Concours cars often change hands privately for much more.

We regard to useability in 'modern traffic',TDs and TFS are a dream to drive compared to earlier MG sports models. Rack and pinion steering steering, independent front suspension and decent 9" cast iron brake drums put our cars well ahead of the rest.

About two(2) years ago in Australia a nice TF 1250 sold for $AUS 70,000. However,in Australia it is the Holdens,Ford Falcons and Valiants that have really attracted the big money over the past 10 years or so.

Of course, the USA has a large number of TDs and TFs compared to the rest of the world. Can affect price I guess.

With an ageing MG owner demographic, I am not sure where we are heading in the future with our MGs as many under 35 year olds often don't know what an 'MG' is !!!

Tom,

Oops ! I had deleted the entry on TF values which made its way onto the 'TF Upholstery' post. However,I noticed today that it was still there! Apologies.

That's actually a very nice car. Clearly an older restoration where they did not do the scuttle but ...

The doors can be fixed probably with correcting the hinges that looked to have been replaced.

Not sure what's keeping the bonnet up in the front but it could be the wrong rubber or just an adjustment.

Replace the piping, touch up a few places and that's a $20k car IMHO. Much better than I have generally seen on flea-bay.

Why do people paint the firewall Black if the car wasn't originally Black? To me, it would indicate I would have to strip the car and put the paint in order like it came from the factory. When I see this, it tells me very little effort was put into restoring the car properly. Regardless of the color, at least paint it the way it's supposed to be. I think $12,000 is a good tear down and restore price, if it can be bought for that. Conversion to LHD is too much of a pain and would take away from the cars originality. JMHO. PJ

Paul,

Tend to agree with you. Most T types look good from 10 metres away.
However, lifting the bonnet/hood can tell a different story ! Apart from the erroneous black paint on the bulkhead etc., in many cases the real original detail is not evident.

However,as you say around $12,000 would have to be a good buy.

That black firewall thing is a carry over from 60's/70's muscle cars. Many of them had black under the hood. So the uneducated think that's cool.
