MG TD TF 1500 - Way, way, WAY! OT

OK, so I'm just bragging but you guys have an appreciation for all things with four wheels and a motor. Back in '77 fresh out of USAF and law school I bought my F-100 pickup. It's been rode hard and put up wet more than a few times but mostly garaged at least at nights. Last year I lent it to Tom, a car-guy friend (mostly Pontiac Firebirds and Porches - Ugh!) but a gearhead nonetheless. As always when I lend the truck to Tom it comes back better that when I lent it but this time was exceptional. First he noticed that the footwells had rotted out so he and a body repair friend of his started the fix. Ended up with new floor pans, new weather stripping all around, new door latches, new floor mat (a biggie), new alternator, voltage regulator and coil and too many smaller things to mention. Except for those "wear" items the truck is show-room-stock. Original paint, 302 V-8, three on the column, A/C, P/S, Holley 2-barrel, manual choke, single exhaust, cheap aftermarket radio and aftermarket step bumper. Runs and drives smooth as silk. Totally rust free.

My truck - I think I'll keep it.

Hey Jud -

It's not "Way, way, WAY! OT" to me.

That'a a great looking truck and a darn good reason to brag. Too good that you have owned it since new. You probably get more "thumbs up" for your truck than for your MG.

You're not the only MG owner who likes old trucks. I've owned my '54 Chevy for fifteen years. Unfortunately, I'll sell it to make room for the new kid ... my '55 TF-1500. And to reclaim the garage bay that houses my woodworking shop.

Details for prospective new stewards. Four pages. You don't need to sign if asked. (gotta copy and paste to browser):

When I finally got the MG of my dreams from adolescence three years ago I had the same problem but I had some retirement money to burn so I built another building. I'm one lucky SOB. Jud

We should all be so lucky as to have a friend like that Jud - I would have to say that he is a keeper. Cheers - Dave
PS - great looking truck!

South Carolina is a little far ...but if your friend wants to borrow my Dawgkota he is welcome to do so!

Bumper sticker is the only thing holding my bumper together! LOL

My wife hates this truck! But, It sits for months on end and always starts! (She makes me park it behind the garage.) Never worry about scratching the paint as there is none left!

Jud, ask your friend Tom if he'd like to borrow my MG :)
Maybe it will come back fully restored!

Just to let you know, Tom and I met at Thule, Greenland, AFB in 1972 and have been close friends ever since. He met his now wife there and married her while we were both at Keesler in biloxi, MS. He lives about 100 miles away in Columbia, SC but we manage to get together (usually, strike that, always involves more than one beer) half a dozen times a year. He, and his brother have just finished building their second RV airplane. They now tool around in an RV-7 and a tail dragging RV-4. We usually end up just drinking beer and talking gear head stuff. This is me on my first flight in the RV-7. Jud
