Found this today. Maybe be something or not.

Used to be the day when Bob Seymour used to grab these up now I hope there is someone else out there who will keep them from going to the boneyard.
Bob Brown

There is, thank you very much. They are sold.

Hey Tom-
The horn on the green one has the wrong...
Just kidding.

Looks like an EXU steering wheel. EXU?
That would explain the horn...

You east coast guys always find the righteous deals and once in a lifetime barn finds. I couldn't respond fast enough. I hope they both get put back together rather than as suggested by the seller

Somebody is going to wind up on hoarders! :-)

I am pleased to get them, even if I won't be able to get them from Tennessee until March. The one can be made to run without too much effort, I think; the other is going to take a lot more work... Two cars, definitely, not two to be made into one!

I've asked for serial numbers and more photos, which should come after Thanksgiving.

WTG Tom. Does it get any easier rebuilding them when you have done it so many times?

Sur4e - It's a lot like Legos - you just put pieces together until it looks like a car!

LOL Tom

Tom - Glad somebody responsible got them not that dude in Calif that is parting out the Tseries for the $$$$$$. FOG

Though as distasteful as it seems to acknowledge every used part we buy from individuals from either here, Ebay, Craig's, swapmeets, and even some of our suppliers etc, they all came from running whole cars or wrecks at one time. Without them we all would be faced with some unworkable cars and extremely more costly restoratorations to hand fabricate replacements or buy cheap re pops from same suppliers. Don't be hating them for it. It has put other cars back on the road. You all know that you have bought any number of used spares. If you say, "not I" you have been very blessed or not being honest with yourself. They weren't always spares. Even cars that are in complete pieces can be resurrected but are turned into spares to support others. Those who complain should step up and buy every car available and put the money into them to put them back on the road, not being selective to buy the best possible start. Doesn't that sound ridiculous in itself. Again I don't agree with it either. I wish I could buy every t series that came along but I couldn't possible save them all nor could I put the effort into their resurrections. Without them mine would have never seen near completion and I'm thankful for the market of used spares

I'm not sure how I feel. Obviously, having bought two rough/dismantled TCs yesterday, I have some vested interest. But I wrote the seller right away that these would become TWO cars, NOT two cars put together to make ONE car.

For me, if a car is badly incomplete, has been much modified, or is in too poor condition, I have no problem parting it out. I saw a TD recently where half the bottom frame rails were rusted through, making it uneconomical to save. COULD it be saved? Sure - buy another chassis, move everything over, and have a non-matching car.

I bought a bunch of TC parts on Craigslist last year in Ohio, missing the body tub and engine. Would it have been worth adding a tub and non-matching engine? Probably, being a TC, but with much work. As it turned out, the parts were stolen, and were quickly re-united with the original tub and engine to form the original TC it SHOULD have been (thank you again, David Sheward, for all your diligence and help).

I recently bought an Arnolt that has a V-8 installed. Should it be parted out? Not to my way of thinking - it's too rare a car to be chopped up, even to keep other Arnolt's on the road. If a TD chassis and firewall have been chopped for a V-8, then I would probably be willing to part it out, if it is missing the engine and trans and instruments, and has no historical value to speak of.

But I WILL not agree that a decent, largely complete and restore-able car should be broken up for parts. I have three rough, barn-find, eBay Mark II TDs all with matching numbers, that also need total restorations. I would not want to see them broken up because they are largely complete, and Mark IIs. I'm just waiting for the right person to come along!

So I DO understand both sides, but I urge on the side of caution, when considering destroying a car that can never be put back together. MOST parts can be obtained, as MG sold all sorts of parts when these cars were new - I was recently offered an NOS TC rear transmission cover that an owner bought from BMC in the 60's, but never used. There's a lot out there already.

Agree 100%! It's a fine line and often an emotional one.

And while we're on the subject, if any badly wrecked or rusted TCs are out there (or even better TA/TB), I'll buy a front frame section no matter how bad it is.

Just went through this with the 57 MG ZB that we rescued from a field in Sacramento. The car needed a lot of work, but it was way too nice to part out. Fortunately we found a party that thought the same.

I recently purchased a TD transmission. Do I need another transmission? No, would I pass up one for a low price. NO. Another part to find a place to keep it.

I did part out one TD. Found one in a field in Wisconsin. Very little left of it, but we dismantled as much of what was left of the body and sold it for parts. The car had a V8 motor transplant in its past (not in the car when I got it). I figured the frame was worth something until I saw what they did to it to put the V8 in it. The tube crossmember had been cut to where there was less than 2 inches of metal on the bottom of the tube. Probably still could have found someone that needed the rails, but no takers, so it got scrapped.

As this thread is moving towards what could or should be saved the following are pics of a TD that was brought back from beyond the brink & given life after death. Cheers

Peter - Now THAT would have been a challenge. I've salvaged four TD's & a TF in my lifetime but nothing to that degree. Mine were totaled wrecks that required a new frame to start, nothing near as bad as that. You are to be commended. Russ

Tom L - Congrats on the pair, good luck on the project and thanks. Russ

Russ that kudos belongs to a mate of mine. He went to tech to learn how to weld, panel beat & paint just so he could restore that car. It was left in a barn while he was in England for 20 odd years. When he got back he discovered the car had been rolled out into the paddock not long after he'd left & had never been covered. It was just a heap of rust with a large tree growing out of the middle of it! Today it's as pretty as a picture. Cheers
