MG TD TF 1500 - Wind Wings
I've just fitted a pair of wind wings I bought second-hand but they don't look right to me. Do the brackets fit on the inside of the car or the outside? If I fit them with the brackets on the inside the brackets push the wings out into the slip stream, not a problem in itself but it means the side screens will no longer fit without first removing the wings. If I fit them as pictured then they don't look as good but the side screens fit ok when the door is closed because the bulk of the bracket is inside the car. ![]() |

Pictured from inside. Note: The bottom of the wings are manufactured with a slight bend that follows the line of the dash side. ![]() |

Try reversing all four of the hinges from the outside to the inside edge of each deflector. They look bassackwards compared to mine. |

Jim do you have a picture of yours? I've tried reversing the bracket part attached to the perspex leaving the slotted part attached to the screen, is this what you mean? If I do this then the hinges don't work as the wings want to move into the car which, obviously, is the wrong way. |

CJ, Different wings and brackets, I know, but this is how my brackets are attached. Hope this helps, Jasper ![]() |

Jasper, mine are similar to yours and here's how mine are attached. Cj, I can't swear that this is correct but I tried swapping them side to side and that didn't work at all. The next post will show how this arrangement does not interfere with the side curtain frame. Jud ![]() |

With side curtain frame in place (someday I'll get around to putting the curtains on the frame). Jud ![]() |

Jud, You could be right...but I like like the looks the way I've attached them and above that, I never drive my car with the side curtains in place ;-) Jasper |

CJ, I will have to dig out the wings this evening and take a photo for you. I may be wrong in my assumption so now I am curious to see what they look like. Been years. |
Jim Merz |
Here are how mine are installed.

CJ, I have to apologize and say I was completely wrong. I trial fitted one of my wings to positively determine which side was where and was surprised with my findings. My wings are exactly the same configuration as yours. Photo is attached with the RH on the right and LH on the left. Sorry I misled you. The hinges are mounted on the outside of the wings.![]() |

Thanks everyone for your pictures, looks like mine are the correct way round after all, used the car for a few miles now and I must say they seem to do a good job. |

My guess would have been backwards and up-side-down. Mine look just like pic Jasper put up. They do work with side curtains in place. Not a very good pic...can get better when head to garage in a bit if you like. ![]() |

David is right. I've checked it with the side curtains in place and the hinges or brackets do not interfere with them. Jasper ![]() |

CJ, my wind wings have a more pronounced diagonal curve than yours. This allows them to fold right in about 1/2" in and parallel with the side screens. I also have similar on top of the screen which cuts down the backdraught. Ray TF 2884 |

FWIW...picture of the way the wind wings should be attached according to Moss, copied from there 2005 catalogue. Jasper ![]() |

CJ, Looking at your 1st pic again this morning and wondering if they would fold "flat" on windscreen if it was in "down/flat" position? Does not look like they would. Sticking up, I would think you may get some strange turbulence going down the road. I'll post some better pics when I get to garage today. I also have smoked Plexiglas sun visors on top of my screen. With my screen down and those up I get less wind in the face. Not as good as a Brookland, but it does help. With screen up it helps with draft over top of screen. I drive quit a bit with the screen down...dawg likes it that way! |
