MG TD TF 1500 - Windscreen Measurement TF

I have just trial assembled my TF's windscreen and there appears to be too much of a gap between the centre of the bottom rail and the scuttle. The rubber seal doesn't touch properly in the centre. I suspect the bottom rail has too much curvature and this is supported by the fact the bottom mitres don't fit as tightly as I would like. I can easilly straighten it slightly but need to know by how much. Can someone please let me know the correct distance from the top rail to the bottom, taken at the centre of the windscreen. The inside or outside measurement will be fine providing you let me know which you are quoting! The ones at the edges are fixed by the uprights so I can, hopefully, correct the curvature.

Many thanks

I can get you whatever you want sometime this week. My replacement frame (thanks Hugh) is presently at the glass shop. I'll do the assembly after the provide the glass.

I don't trust the old screen I have here for dimensions

Hi Jan,
on mine it is 22cm.

PS Send me your email address and I will forward the rear seal dimensions.

Sorry Jan,
meant to say 22cm inside edges.
That is between the top edge of lower to bottom edge of top rail measured on the outside.
I have an original glass I can make a paper pattern of and snail mail to you if you need it.
I leave out the bottom screw of one side support, this means I can remove the assembly without removing the main brackets.

mine's 22.2cm. From the scuttle to the top of the screen frame is 27.5cm. The gap is about 1cm at the bottom.

Thanks for the responses. Mine was 19cms but is now 22cms thanks to a few pieces of wood and a large G clamp. Thanks Ray for the offer of a template but I have made one up from hardboard to suit the frame and a piece of laminated glass is presently being cut. I will use black silicon sealant to fit the glass - much, much easier than trying to juggle a rubber gasket.
