MG TD TF 1500 - Windscreen Side Support
I searched the archives and couldn't find anything on this (don't know that my search skills are up to snuff). It appears that the PO attempted to remove the lower studs (Moss part 408-295) with visegrips and succeeded only in grinding off most of the threads. I've hears (on the bbs I think) that the lower studs are anchored with a perpendicular rod but I can't find any evidence of it other than with mighty effort the studs won't unscrew. Is there a rod through the studs? Is it perhaps chromed over and hidden on my side supports? If either is the case, any ideas on how to remove and replace the studs? I'm stumped. I'm a bit fearful of asking a machine shop to drill out steel sduds in a brass casting but maybe that can be done. Thanks for any better ideas. Jud |

Gene: When I click the link it just takes me back to here. Can you tell me what your search words were? Was the thread started in 2009? Do you know what the name of the thread was? Thanks. Jud |
