Triumph TR6 - frame removal

I am attemping to release the rear part of the frame. This will allow me to align the rear tub with the "B" post gussets, then I will measure and construct a jig that will ensure the body will not twist when it eventually comes off the frame. I am of course having great diffuclty in removing the most rear bolts. It seems to me that they are not very accessable (not like in the Rimmer Bros catalogue) any suggestions?

Thanks

Les, I think I just ground them off with a hand held cut wheel, nothing on these cars are for your convenience.

Les the one through the spare wheel well shouldn't be difficult to remove. The two at the ends of the frame rails are not captive nuts, though dirt and rust may make them stiff they will turn unless you get a (9/16?) wrench in there to hold them.
When I removed the body from my car I also found someone had used a piece of wire to hold the brake and fuel lines to the transmission tunnel so in trying to lift the body I was pulling upwards on these lines, attached to the chassis. This may be a common "bodge"!
Good luck!
Simon.

Thanks guys,

I shall try again on Saturday. I have sprayed WD40 in the area.

Simon, I know what you mean by the rusted nuts. I thought that they were captive, and so I did not want to cut them off, but now it should be easy.

Les,
If WD-40 does not work well, I recommend that you try Kroil from Kanno Laboratories in Nashville TN. It's a super penetrant that I've found to be highly successful in freeing rusted/frozen connectors. It's advertised to penetrate a space as small as 1/1,000,000 of an inch!

Chalk up another recommendation for Kroil. The stuff does work wonders.

Well the bolts are off, thanks to the trusty Dremel and reinforced cutting discs. Could not find a Canadian distributer for KROIL.

Tonight I will jack up the tub and align the B post gussets, take some measurements and get the tub support jig manufactured at the local welding shop (1" mild steel tubing $1.50 CDN per foot including labour).

I am compiling a website (Triumph or Disaster) lots of pictures and words. Look for it soon.

Thanks to all

Great title! Be sure to pass on the link when you get it up. Whoops, that sounds like a Viagra ad...gotta be careful.
