Triumph TR6 - What seats fit the TR6???

My seats in my car is crap! I was looking at getting after market seats for the car since to rebuild or to get new seat cost way to much. Can any one give me and advice on what seats fit the car?

Jeff,
You might want to chat with Christopher Trace. Super duper guy who has a awesome v8 Tr6. He fitted his with I think Miata seats. They feel great (I tested the seats out) They come with a bonus feature which is speakers built into the head rest. Drop him a email. he is a reg on here.

Do the miata seats increase the sitting hieght? Do you sit any higher? What is the approx. cost of the seats?

They are slightly lower than the standard seats, I would recommend them, they are probably the single best improvement I've made to the car. Don't know how much they would cost in Canada, but they aren't particularly expensive in this country say £150/pair approx from a Mazda breaker but you do have to buy or fabricate brackets to fit them.

I have been told that seats from the BMW 300 series (70/80's) also fit.

Jeff,
I've also heard about the Bmw seats fitting but have no experience with them. I have miata seats 1990 - 99
are all the same, I found they are about an inch higher
than stock seats but I used the miata brackets so that probably accounts for the difference between me and Ron. I paid about $250.00 CND but had to buy the brackets/sliders sperately ( lots of them out there,
I got mine for the cost of shipping) They are very comfortable! and you can pop speakers in the headrests
which is very nice.
Email me off thread if you like and I;ll coach you through it.

ebay usually has a good selection of seats. I am not sure when the style changed, maybe around 1998, but I think you want pre 1998 model year seats.

I punched subaru seats tr6 into Google and came up with Lee Janssen's car which had this quote:

Subaru GL10 seats - I simply couldn't resist buying comfortable seats for $50 / pair.

So there's another idea for you. I'll try to go back to find the link to this page for you, too. The car is nice, interesting mods.

1) The link provided is incorrect! It should be:
http://www.turbo-tr6.info/tr6_overview.html

2) The only reference to seats is the comment that has already been published:

"Subaru GL10 seats - I simply couldn't resist buying comfortable seats for $50 / pair."

Cheap, comfortable but they may be a little too wide for most folks. At the time miata seats were not widely available. Currently I would investigate miata as the first choice.

There is a wonderful explaination on installing miata seats in a triumph at:

http://www.teglerizer.com/triumphstuff/miataseats/

Hope this helps

I didn't check the link, but I got your attention. I like your car, but you're coming off a little testy, Lee. Sorry.
